Dan Simms
A student focused approach to teaching the art of fly fishing

I was a little late to the fly fishing game and I didn't fish much as a kid on conventional tackle. I picked up a fly rod and began the journey into the world of fly fishing after I attended a Fly Program retreat. Shortly after the first fly rod was purchased and from there the pursuit of fly fishing has completely consumed my life. I am now fortunate enough to work with The Fly Program in delivering these world class retreats in the NSW Snowy Mountains,.

Previous passions and endeavours include competitive cycling, golfer and award winning landscape photographer. I feel like fly fishing combines all of these. The attention to detail involved in pursuing golf, the drive to improve as a cyclist and the love for being in the outdoors taking landscape photographs, fly fishing combines all these attributes. I feel calm, centred and completely at home when standing in a river, fly rod in hand casting at rising trout.

As a newly Certified Casting Instructor with the Fly Fishers International, I combine my technical training with an approachable personality to share the intoxicating experience of fly fishing.

Fly fishing isn't just for the gentleman with patches on his jacket elbows, standing in a stream casting for trout - its for anyone, any species of fish and in all waters.
